PMLD - Profound And Multiple Learning Difficulties

Suitable for anyone supporting children with profound and multiple learning difficulties.

Support children to get the most out their environment, whilst considering development, assessing and measuring of progress and communication, exploring practical activities for interaction and engagement.

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is suitable for anyone working with, teaching or supporting a child or young person with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

What prior knowledge or experience is needed?     No prior knowledge is required.

The course is ideal for teachers or support staff new to working with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

Experienced staff will also benefit from an opportunity to reflect and develop their current practice.

Summary of the course:

This course explores areas that are particularly relevant in enabling an individual to get the most out of their environment and addressing their need to feel safe and secure within it. It offers an overview of development, assessing & measuring progress and communication. In addition, you can explore practical activities for interaction and engagement.

  • How to engage children successfully in fun activities •

  • How to support children at an early level of communicative competence •

  • Sensory systems and the impact of impairment •
