This course is about the next stage of learning for students with SLD after simple recognition, labelling and counting. It will help them to recognise and connect disparate pieces of learning and begin to make use of them to build greater understanding of the world.
We will look at lots of examples and ways of developing the knowledge and skills needed for everyday problem-solving.
We will ask –
· Are pupils managing the school environment as independently as they can?
· How do we help pupils to use what they have learned to analyse the detailed content of pictures?
· What do pupils need to understand about cause and effect to be able to solve an apparently simple problem such as opening a door, or switching on a light?
· Can pupils use what they know to make a cold drink or even make a cup of tea safely?
