Complex Needs: Tackling the Barriers to Learning

Course delivered by Video Conferencing via "Teams"

 

For all teachers and TAs working with students with complex needs in any school setting.

This course is intended to offer practical support and ideas.  

·    It will summarise the characteristic behaviours of students diagnosed with:

 

v   Autistic Spectrum Disorders (including PDA) 

v   ADHD 

v   SEMH 

v   Attachment difficulties 

v   SpLD (dyslexia and dyspraxia)

 

    and look at how these can combine, and co-exist with different degrees 

    of learning difficulty, to make complex individual profiles of need.

 

·        examine particular barriers to learning

 

·         look for common underlying causes - such as Sensory Integration Disorder,        Communication problems and Anxiety.  

 

·         discuss teaching approaches and helpful interventions.
