The working name for the National Rebound Therapy Consultancy - the central body of reference and provider of certificated training courses for Rebound Therapy in Great Britain.

Rebound Therapy is the phrase used by trained practitioners to describe the use of a trampoline to provide therapeutic exercise and recreation for people with a wide range of special needs.

Participants range from mild to severe physical disabilities and from mild to profound and multiple learning disabilties.  The techniques of Rebound Therapy were developed in the 1970's by Eddy Anderson MCSO Cert Ed, and practitioners use R.T. to facilitate movement, improve fitness and exercise tolerance, to increase or decrease muscle tone, to promote balance, relaxation, sensory integration and to improve communication skills.

www.holisticmusicforchildren.co.uk

We offer a selection of original music and songs suitable for pre-school children and children with additional needs.  When writing the music for these CD's, the main drive was to produce something simple but effective for children and a product that was easy to use for the adult. Much of the music written for children is too complicated and 'busy', detracting from the purpose of the song.

With many years of experience leading guitar based music sessions and a passion for writing and recording music, I felt that it was time to address the problem.  We have 40 years experience between us of working with children in early years and children with additional needs.

Why 'Check the Map' was created:

It's time for parents, teachers and anyone working in Special Educational Needs to stop having to go all around the houses to find simple, local information - across all sectors.  This site has been set up to make it easy for everyone to find out what services there are for people with Learning Disabilities in their local area, or any area, just by clicking the map or typing in a postcode.  Importantly this gives smaller organisations and individuals the opportunity to promote their valuable services alongside the better know charities and companies.  From job opportunities for adults with LD to after school groups, speech therapy to opticians, if it's a learning disability friendly service, it'll be advertised here.

This site is for everyone.  Whether you represent a school, day centre, private practice, leisure service, NHS clinic, therapy group..... anything and everything.  The more services that are added, the more useful this site will become.

RESOURCES:

BOOK: Using Intensive Interaction and Sensory Integration

People with severe autism experience the sensory information they receive from the world completely differently to those not on the spectrum.  They feel cut off and overwhelmed, and their behaviour can engage with people who are non-verbal or semi-verbal and sometimes even those who have speech but lose the power to process it when they are in crisis.  We can help them to make sense of the world.

Intensive Interaction uses a person's own body language to make contact with them and Sensory Integration develops the capacity of an individual to receive, process and apply meaning to information provided by the senses through targeted physical activities.  These techniques can be used to develop an environment tailored to the particular sensory needs of the person with severe autism, reducing factors that cause distress.

With illustrations, case examples and a wide range of tried and tested techniques, this practical guide provides indispensable tools for parents, carers and other professionals supporting people with severe autism and other learning disabilities.
