Summary of the course

Children and young people with special educational needs benefit from a multi-sensory and kinaesthetic approach to learning and the outdoors can provide an ideal environment for this. Many aspects of the curriculum can be enhanced by outdoor teaching whether it is within the school playground or the wider world. Young people with special educational needs have often been denied the fundamental outdoor learning opportunities that we sometimes take for granted. This course covers outdoor teaching ideas across all areas of the curriculum for children and young people with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties.
