Supporting High Tech Communication Aid Users in Mainstream Classrooms

 

Currently available "In-House" only

 

A practical day to enable support staff and teachers to include pupils using high tech communication aids in a mainstream classroom.

 

The day aims to demystify high tech communication and to offer practical ideas about how you fit into the picture.

  • What it is like to communicate without effective speech
  • How to be an effective communication facilitator
  • Strategies to support effective communication

Learning outcomes:

  • An increased awareness of communication difficulties
  • Increased knowledge about how to support communication
  • Increased knowledge about the skills the pupils need
  • Increased confidence to support a pupil using a high tech device

  • Experience communication difficulties for yourself
  • The skills needed to facilitate good communication
  • The skills your pupil will need to become an effective communicator
  • Identifying and minimising communication breakdown
  • Identifying priorities for the school and pupil
  • Communication passports
