A one day course for professionals providing sex and
relationship education to students with function Autism and Aspergers in
mainstream secondary education.
Outcomes
To understand the impact of ASD on developing social and
interpersonal skills.
To explore techniques for delivery of an effective
programme of SRE and PSHE education.
To examine further resources and facilities to support
students in day to day life

Understanding the impact of the triad of impairments on
personal and social development
Practical strategies to help with:

- Central Coherence
- Application of new information
Teaching social skills
Using active teaching and learning
methods
Understanding the consequences of students
behaviour
Helping students to 'decode' their social
environment
Providing a structured approach for personal
relationships
Supporting students in personal relationships and social
situations
- 'Do's and Don'ts' of SRE and the Autistic
Spectrum
- Establishing a circle of friends
- Creating a haven
- Skills for self management
