The learner should be able to: The learner can:
1. Recognise the main characteristics of behaviours of people with Autism 1.1 Explain certain characteristics of behaviour for people with Autism
2. Understand the Triad of Impairment

2.1 Explain each area of the Triad and its implications for people with Autism

2.2 Map an individual onto the Triad

3. Know the diagnostic criteria for Autism 3.1 Apply the diagnostic criteria to a service user and evaluate its relevance.
4. Understand the particular differences of using and understanding language in people with Autism 4.1 Examine strategies of language support
5. List the social skills used in the process of social interaction 5.1 Describe and evaluate ways of supporting social skills and social skill development
6. Recognise the importance of routines in every day life 6.1 Evaluate support strategies around inflexibility of thought
7. Understand the sensory differences of people with Autism 7.1 Examine and review environments and approaches with regard to sensory differences
