Musical Activities to Support Key Skills
Across the Special School Curriculum
Course timings: 9.30am -
3.30pm
Course
code: KA
Trainer: Eric
Klein
This course is aimed at anyone working with children (5-19) in an SEN
environment.
This course will explore the nature of sound, how to create and use sound for
musical activities, and how to join these experiences with Key Skills and
Citizenship. Musical activities in this course will be approached in an
inclusive environment, needing no previous knowledge or experience.
Creativity and play are the most prominent features in all musical experiences,
and provide wonderful means for the development of key skills and
citizenship. The purpose of this course is to provide any teacher,
practitioner, carer or Administrator with tools and knowledge in this often
under-utilized skill area, often because of the fear of using music when we
are not skilled. You will finish this day with an enthusiasm for the
subject and its potential application across the curriculum, and discover how
easy it it to use and how valuable it can be.
Course Delegates will:
- Use musical activities for Key Skills including: Communication, Application
of Number, Probem Solving
- Use musical activities for improving own learning and performance
- Use musical activities to help in working with others
- Use musical activities to enhance the keys to citizenship: self
