Bringing mathematical and practical life skills to children or students with
severe and profound learning disabilities – a course for anyone involved in
numeracy teaching for pupils with special needs
Find out:
How mathematics is a fundamental part of our lives
How children with learning disabilities learn about quantities,
counting and applying basic mathematical ideas in their everyday lives
How to interpret the National Curriculum and Numeracy Strategy in ways that
are relevant for very Special pupils
Outcomes of the course:
- A greater understanding of learning and communication
skills relating to mathematics and practical life skills
- Strategies for teaching mathematical skills to children or students with
very special learning disabilities
- Practical ideas for helping special pupils and students to learn
