Aims of the Day

To gain an overview of communication development

To gain insight into functions of communication

To understand what is alternative and augmentative communication

To develop an awareness of a rang of AAC communication aids

To learn basic techniques on the Writing with Symbols 2000 software to develop some simple AAC communication aids
Objectives

To participate with group discussion comparing their own communication skills and functions to that of a service user's communication skills and functions

To complete an environmental audit of the communication functions and access to successful communication int the service user's environment.

To examine and try out a range of different alternative and augmentative communication aids

To plan and develop basic AAC aids using Widgit Writing with Symbols 2000 software.
