Embedding anti-bullying work

New course:

Safe to Learn: Embedding anti-bullying Work in Schools

Currently available "In-House" only

The documentation provided by the school by and large reflects the government's guidance as detailed in 'Safe to Learn: Embedding anti-bullying work in Schools'.

There is, however, considerable scope to put a different perspective on bullying that will fit in with the needs of a special school.  This is to look at bullying in terms of 'Mental Health' in particular how to support young people with mental health difficulties.

Proposed programme

1  Re-visit the definition of bullying to give it a mental health perspective

2  Undertake an analysis of the dynamics of participant roles in bullying:

  • Bully
  • Assistant
  • Re-inforcer
  • Victim
  • Defender
  • Outsider

3   Benefits gained by tackling the behaviours

4   Possible Interventions

  • Whole school policy
  • Co-operative values
  • Peer support
  • Method of shared concern
  • The no blame approach

5   Support and assertiveness training groups for bullied pupils

6   Dealing with persistent bullies

7   Working with provocative/aggresive victims
