Welcome and introductions. Domestic arrangements.
Getting older with Down Syndrome - characteristics of Down Syndrome and how they may develop, giving rise to misdiagnosis of dementia
Dementia - manifestations of dementia
Physical considerations - looking at environmental adaptiations including atmoshphere, approach and activities.
Communication - support for understanding communication including augmentative and alternative systems.
Emotional considerations - looking at support for anxiety, distraction techniques, how to calm.
Reality orientation - using systems and activities to help support lack of understanding.
Challenging behaviours - how to address challenging or inappropriate behaviours
Health support - including eating and drinking problems, medication and epilepsy.
