An Introduction to the Early Years Foundation Stage -

Target audience: Teachers, TA's and practitioners in Early Years Settings (Nursery Schools, Children's Centres, Foundation Stage Units and Reception Classes)
Aims of the Course:
- To familiarise and suport understanding of the new curriculum framework EYFS
- To build upon current knowledge and quality practise
Objectives:
- To develop understanding of how to meet the statutory requirements of the EYFS
- To develop an understanding of how to use the practice guidance in the practitioners current provision
- To unpick the principles in to practice cards
Course content:
- An introduction to EYFS and time to look at the pack and statutory requirements/legal changes
- Practical activities: putting principles into practice
- Time to reflect at each stage of training and record next steps
- Looking at thems: Health and Well Being (PSE) & Learning Environment, Parents as Partners
- Looking at the areas of learning and development
- Communication Language and Literacy
- Planning, role of key person, equality issues
The course would be delivered in an accessible way and includes an effective combination of
- Practical tasks
- Reflective Discussion
- Action planning for future practice
